Sweetness

We, or I should say, I was watching our neighbors kids the other night. This sweet little girl, Amelia, wanted to sit with Ryan, even though he was drugged up on allergy meds. She was perfectly content sitting with him while watching 'Toy Story 2', even though he was half asleep. I couldn't take my eyes off of them, it was so cute!

I can't wait someday to have kids with this man. Now if only they would hurry it up and get here!

1990's here we come!

Back in the early 90's it was all about R&B music for me and my family. That's what we loved, and what we were drawn to. There was still the typical pop songs I liked as well, but mostly it was all about the R&B. Alot of the reason I think I liked R&B is because my older Brother and Sister liked it. And I thought they were cool, so I wanted to be cool too. But really I liked it.

My older brother got us listening to Bobby Brown. I remember when he was on Ghostbuster's 2, and wrote the theme song for that movie. Pretty cool!

This next one was and still is a fave for my sisters and I. We'd recreate the intro to this song and sing it all the time, including as an opening for my brother's band in the late 90's.

Flashback 1988-'89

I remember my brother Quinn gave me this tape for my birthday, after asking me what I wanted. I loved this song!

Of course I had to put this on here as well. This was the year when we found out who NKOTB were and thus began the craziness of me, Caiti, Erin and our friend Karen's obsession with them, which lasted until it wasn't cool to like them anymore. But was it cool to like them to begin with?

This next one cracks me up!! My sisters and I starting competing vocally at county fairs, water parks, etc. My Mom had the "brilliant" idea of having us sing some of Gloria Estefan songs, in 4 part harmony. There we were in our black skirts, black and white striped shirts with a red bandana tied in a knot - worn as a necklace, and our big poofy hair. We looked awesome to say the least. This song and other GE songs bring me back to that time.

Flashback-1987

I wondering If I should really be doing this for every year since 1984, through 2000. Maybe I'll skip a few years here and there. Mostly I'm just documenting the songs that had special meaning to me.

1987 brought this awesome Bangles hit song. I remember my friend Laura and I would watch this video over and over at her house. We'd decide which girl in the band we were going to represent, and then act out their part in the video, and sing their part. I think I ended up being guitar player on the far right of the video. You know, since she was tall and had dark hair like me. Good times.

I remember getting the tape of Lisa Lisa and Cult Jam for Christmas. This was a great song!

Flashback-1986

This was a very important year for our family. It was the year that we packed up our things and moved to the mainland. Staying our first month in Cabins in Parley's Canyon, and then in an apartment complex in Provo for the summer, and finally moving into our home in Orem, where my parents still reside.

Living in an apartment complex in Provo had it's advantages and disadvantages. I mean spending a whole summer playing in the pool was AWESOME! Having the whole complex, with College kids and all, sing Happy Birthday to me, and me running away into the pool house from embarrassment...guess I didn't know how to handle all the attention...lol.

On the flip side imagine a small 3 bedroom 1 bath apartment with 10 people living there. Yeah, it was a bit crammed...but it was a summer never to be forgotten.

As we hung out in the pool area all day, everyday, we'd blast the stereo system. These are some of the songs I remember the most that summer in Provo.

There are sooo many other video's I could put on here that will always take me back to this year, like Madonna's "Papa Don't Preach", "Glory of Love" From Karate Kid 2, and many others, but didn't want to overwhelm you. :)

Flashback video, 1985...

Ok, I had to have at least two songs for 1985.

1.Oh man, I LOVED this song back in the day, and still do today. I used to think George Michael was so HOT, then I found out that he'd never reciprocate those feelings so that ended that...but I still always LOVED his music.

2.Debarge was all the rage in Hawaii. Especially when the movie "The Last Dragon" came out in 1985 as well. Still has a very special place in my heart today. Love it!!

Flashback week..starting with 1984

I've been having so much fun searching youtube for some of my favorite songs/videos of the 80's and 90's.

We'll start with way back in the day of good old 1983 when this became one of my favorite songs. My little sister Caitilin and I made up our own dance moves to this one...mind you I was only 7 years old, and she was 5. Ah, the good old days.

ps...this was the best video they had for this song. Excuse the dancers...kind of cheesy, but then again, this was the 80's.

I had to add another video...I mean c'mon, I can't show just one! This next one was an all time favorite when Footloose came out. I remember my older sister Megan renting it for one of her Birthday's, and this song was on there. It quickly became a favorite.

Oh man, Kevin Bacon was so HOT back then! I had a major crush on him.

Tune in for more fabulous videos!

"duh" moment.

I swear I'm having these moments more and more as the years move on. I'm afraid I'll be a victim of Alzheimer's by the time I'm 35. Sad.

Each morning I get up at 6:15, get dressed (in my pj's and jacket - looking ever so stylish!), and pull the car out of the garage and wait for Ryan to finish up some last minute things before taking him to work.

Well, this morning I grabbed my keys and went to unlock the door with the remote and it didn't work. I tried over and over again and nothing happened. "crap", I said out loud. So, I went back inside the house. This was my conversation with Ryan.

me: Can I trade you keys for a second?

Ryan: why?

me: because the batteries are dead in my car remote and I can't get in.

Ryan: So just use the key to unlock it.

....DUH! I stared at him for a second as I realized what just happened, and then turned away and went back out side. I could hear him laughing in the background.

He came to the car a few minutes later, pinched me cheek and told me how funny I was. Well, I'm glad it made him laugh...but I was pretty embarrassed!

Crazy me!

Good Choices

This week is "Good Choices" week. At least it is for me.

You see, I'm one of those people who has the desire to do good all the time, but my follow through is terrible. I can talk and hope and pray about getting in better health, but yet I sit on the couch and do nothing about it.

I always think about the person I was on my Mission and even pre-mission, and how I was always so faithful, reading my scriptures everyday, writing in my journal and just making good choices. I want that person back...yet I'd rather be on FB and play games than read my scriptures. Etc, etc, etc.

So, I decided that this week every time I have those desires to do something good, I'm going to do them and not let my natural self get in the way.

Yesterday I drove Ryan to work at 6:30am. Usually when I get home I tend to fall back asleep until I need to get ready for work. Well, I was determined to get home and read my scriptures in Spanish. And I did! I read for a good 30 minutes, enjoying practicing my Spanish speaking skills as I read out loud. This was a much better choice then going back to my bed and sleeping.

Today I came home from dropping Ryan off again, read my scriptures in Spanish again, and decided that I would go back to sleep. I've been feeling quite depressed lately for some reason...probably just waiting for Aunt Flo to visit...and I didn't want to get ready for work. The thought even came to me that I could just call in. I fought and I fought with myself. What would happen if I didn't go to work? Would everything be ok without me there today? Would my bosses see me as an irresponsible person? Oh, how I just want to sleep the day away and have no cares or worries. I just want to world to go away for the day...

...but I made the choice, after a long while, to get up, take a shower and go to work. I'm happy I'm here. It's been a good day.

What good choices have you made today?
