I love my job, I really do. However it can, at times, take it's toll on my nice-ness.
You see I'm a manager of a call center. I know...you're all thinking...gag...a call center? But I assure you, this is no everyday lame call center. This is XANGO! The best company there is! Our call center has almost no turnover, unlike others that are 100% turnover. We love it here. We care about our people, and we have fun!
However, those stressful times can really put a damper on my mood. Like today, for example. I'm working on agents monthly scores. The supervisors that I am over send them to me and I compile them. Well, I had a conversation with one of them, who is a dear friend, and we argued back and forth for a little bit because we both had understood something different and were trying to get our point across. We ended up going into a room where we could close the door so no one could hear us (we weren't yelling or anything...just being frustrated).
Anyway, I made her cry. Me!! I made someone cry!! I NEVER do that! I felt awe ful about it too. I apologized and told her that I wasn't trying to be rude, and that I'm sorry if it came out that way, but that I was just trying to get my point across and have her understand what was supposed to happen with the scores.
I'm a terrible person. I didn't care to think about what kind of a day she was having. I always hated those people back in my early work days that would make me cry. It usually wasn't because they were upset with me, but because I was having a hard day anyway, and they didn't know...just like today.
Looking back on the start of our conversation I can see where she thought I was being rude. I was being a brat...I really was. CURSES!!! When did I get like this???
I guess I really am a meanie poo poo....just ask my husband. :(

I don't think you are a meanie poo! You were always fun to work with. Those were good times!
Getting a point across is fine. It's a business working relationship. This is where it gets tricky though when someone mistakens the business aspect of it and takes it personal. Sometimes it's hard to separate the friend part and the business part...especially in business. I HATED being a manager because I cared so much for people it was so hard for me to be straight forward sometimes. Hopefully everything is honky dory on Monday. Soooo glad I'm my own boss now and thank goodness my employees(my kids) are very forgiving.
you don't have a mean bone in your body. it's a trait you were given from dad. be grateful for it. don't be so hard on yourself.
I refuse to believe it. Really, maybe there was just something in her eye. On the other hand I have seen you get pretty mean with nasty Chilean doggies.
